NOGGOA Educational Scholarships

This year (2007) the NOGGOA scholarship chose five (5) recipients from three times as many applicants that we had in 2006.  The awarding of five (5) $500.00 scholarships was a new milestone for the fund as in 2006 only two scholarships were awarded

The quality of all of the applications we received made making a decision difficult.  The committee wishes to congratulate all applicants on their hard work, commitment to higher education and their core values.

The committee has also decided that that we will award two (2) $500.00 scholarships to participants in the 2007 Women's National Golden Gloves Championships to be held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL July 10-July, 2007.

We are very proud of our 2007 men's recipients and wish them continued success.  We would also like to thank all of the officials who participated in this years auction and purchased the new jackets, those franchises who donated money, and USA Insurance Marketing for their continued support.

NOGGOA Educational Scholarships are awarded each year to a nominated and chosen boxers.  There is no requirement tied in to winning the National Tournament, however , there are requirements based upon need and educational goals.  A nominated boxer must be enrolled in either a 2 or 4 year accredited college or an accredited vocational program. Scholarship monies come from donations made by officials, some franchises and individuals wishing to contribute. Collectable souvenir pins are also sold to raise money along with the sales of NOGGOA patches.

A large part of the money donated comes from the "Friends of NOGGOA" program established in 2003 by the USA Insurance Marketing Corporation.  NOGGOA Group discounted premium  rates are available on selected Long-Term Care Insurance plans requiring a $30.00 annual membership in the "Friends" program.  Discounts on insurance are 5-10% depending on the insurance company, resulting in hundreds of dollars saving in premium.
